How I Got Rid of Bloating Without Giving Up My Favourite Foods

Methods I tried to relieve my bloating

A few years ago my bloating reached the point where eating anything caused immense pain and discomfort.

Eating in the restaurants not only ruined my evenings but I was embarrassed that I looked pregnant after eating one appetizer.

It was time I faced the problem and tried to look for answers. First I thought it was food intolerances.

I crossed out gluten for two weeks - the bloating was manageable but it was still bugging me.

Then my friend told me that it must be dairy products. Since she experienced the same problem, and trying a dairy free diet fixed that for her.

I was relieved because I thought I found my answer. Although, It was hard because I love cheese and butter…

Turns out it was not that either. Running out of options, I decided to do a deep research.

It didn’t take much time to find out that thousands of people have the same problem as me - confused, helpless, and unable to find answers even with doctors.

One day I happen to find an article claiming that incorporating fermented products into your diet can help digestion and relieve bloating.

What is fermentation?

To be honest, I didn’t exactly know what kind of products are fermented and how they are beneficial to your gut. I knew that yoghurt is one of them but my knowledge ended there.

I fell into a deep rabbit hole. Turns out you can ferment almost anything and people have been doing it for thousands of years

Fermentation is a very common preservation method in many cultures. It’s the process when natural bacteria eat sugar found in fruits, vegetables or grains and duplicate by billions.

Live bacteria, what are they?

Our gut is home to trillions of live bacteria and they are responsible for many body functions mainly digesting food and absorbing nutrients. When we lack certain types of bacteria - our gut becomes unbalanced.

Ultra processed diet, stress, alcohol and sugar can also be a reason why our gut is acting out: bloating, constipation, stomachaches etc.

So I decided to start my gut health journey - not by eliminating certain food groups but trying to incorporate more fermented foods or probiotics to my diet.

Sadly, my local store in Manchester didn’t have a big selection of fermented products like kefir, kimchi or fermented vegetables.

Previously I have tried kombucha, although I liked the taste, it didn’t do much for my bloating. Probably because it was full of sugar

Someone suggested that I should order probiotic supplements, so I did. I used it for a couple of weeks but it felt very artificial. And to be fully honest, it sometimes even gave me diarrhea.

Suddenly I got tired of stressing out so much about my gut health, often obsessing and I was slowly beginning to get back to the start. My bloating was still very much a problem.

As soon as I was ready to give up, I saw my favourite mom influencer recommending this new fermented drink called Goodie by Cannumo

I was sceptical, of course.

I usually don’t fall for influencer ads but this one caught my eye because it had no added sugar, made from natural berries and drinkable.

Results?

By the end of the first week, I definitely saw some improvement in my energy levels. Usually I drink coffee straight after my lunch but after a couple days I didn’t feel the need.

Almost two weeks passed with Goodie and I decided to give my gut a challenge - a whole pizza and two glasses of wine. I was shocked that my stomach didn’t become a balloon like before. I felt great!

After one month of consuming Goodie I can finally say that I found my remedy. I take two shots a day and I am back to eating my favourite foods.

I cannot imagine my morning without it - I put it in my breakfast smoothie or drink it alone. Even my husband tried it and said he felt lighter after meals.
